Topi Ruotsalainen & Janne Vasama: “Sit and Burn – The Garden of Concequences” 2026
Sit & Burn! The exclamation is familiar from Seven Brothers. In the same Book, Simeoni, in the delirious state, experiences his own kind of Hell: an inner world colored by guilt and fear, where reality and illusion intertwine. In that vision, something begins to grow uncontrollably – like a wild garden, overrun and in bloom with consequences of our shameful deeds. Hell does not wait far away in some hereafter, it blazes around us. It is born of actions and choices. Of what we fail to notice.
This is the garden of consequences: a mirror reflecting our own time – a world in which the pursuit of self-interest, estrangement from nature and from one another, and indifference intertwine in a way that reveals an old truth: Hell is still human making.
